Ms. Ketrow at Franklin Middle was looking to highlight the unbelievable talent of the students in their songwriting and performing arts classes. A couple of years ago she had an idea, “The Franklin Middle School Annual Songwriting Contest.” The contest includes both the Hamilton Street and Sampson G. Smith campuses.

Now in it’s second year, almost 30 students participated including Nehita Akhagba who entered her song “Truths.” The song was chosen from all the other entries and Nehita was awarded the grand prize which includes having her song mixed and mastered in a professional recording studio.
