Black bear sightings are on the rise in New Jersey.

Bear sightings have been called in to the NJ Department of Environmental Protection with people seeing them in backyards and in downtown areas.  Follow simple 'Bear Smart' techniques to reduce human-bear encounters.

‘Bear Smart’ guidelines would include limiting bird feeders and securing  all garbage receptacles.  Remember, protect your dogs and cats if you let them out and protect pets and animals who live outside.
