Sheriff Delivers Update On The Alec Baldwin “Rust” Investigation
Santa Fe Sheriff Mendoza says the investigation into the “Rust” movie set shooting is almost complete. He says the reason the investigation has taken more than six months is because there is a huge amount of complicated information and evidence involved. Sheriff Mendoza says no one has come forward to admit that they brought live ammunition onto the set. He says the crew did not adhere to industry standards. Investigators are looking at are text messages “Rust” film armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed shared with an ammunition supplier for a previous film in 2021 – not “Rust” – where she stated that she planned on shooting live ammunition while on set. A law enforcement official said they consider the text exchange important as they try to determine whether the armorer made a practice of conducting live fire exercises at the same time she was responsible for safety on sets. Sheriff Mendoza says it hasn’t been determined yet whether Alec Baldwin will face criminal charges.
