The Wanted’s Tom Parker Dies At 33 From Inoperable Brain Tumor
The Wanted’s Tom Parker has died today (March 30) at the age of 33. His wife, Kelsey Hardwick, shared the news of his death on her Instagram account.
She wrote in her post, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we confirm Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with all of his family by his side. Our hearts are broken, Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence. We are truly thankful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children. Thank you to everyone who has supported in his care throughout, he fought until the very end. I’m forever proud of you.”
Per NME, Parker revealed in 2020 that he had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, saying that he and his wife were “absolutely devastated” but were “gonna fight this all the way.” Parker shared an update on his condition last year following his cancer diagnosis, saying that he was “feeling very positive” after an MRI scan revealed that the tumor was stable and that the size of the tumor reduced significantly.
Speaking about that on This Morning last year, he explained that he underwent 30 rounds of chemotherapy and 30 radiotherapy sessions. “It’s been pretty full-on. Chemo was very, very tough, and [radiotherapy] is probably the hardest part,” he told the program. “I feel a lot more confident and a lot more in control of my emotions. If I did do this five months ago, I’d be a crying mess, to be honest. I’m feeling very positive.”
Parker also appeared in a documentary for Stand Up To Cancer about his condition called Tom Parker: Inside My Head.
Parker and Hardwick share two young children together, son Bodhi Thomas Paris Parker, 1, and daughter Aurelia Rose Parker, 2.
