Another Read Across America is upon us. Every year it’s celebrated on Dr. Seuss’ birthday, March 2nd. Theodor Seuss Geisel passed away in 1991, but his treasury of children’s books continues to be enjoyed by children of all ages worldwide. Some of his most popular stories include, “Cat in the Hat,” “Green Eggs and Ham,” and “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.” The National Education Association launched “Read Across America Day” on Dr. Seuss’ birthday in 1998 to encourage children to read and to endorse the importance of reading.

Like many others throughout the country, each year I visit elementary schools in and around Central Jersey. One of the schools I’ve been visiting for over a decade is Saint Matthias School in Somerset. Thanks to Mrs. Vattelana and all the kids at St. Matt’s!
