‘A Christmas Story’ Is Getting A Sequel With The Original Actor
There is going to be a sequel of the 1983 yuletide holiday classic, A Christmas Story, and it will star the original actor Peter Billingsley, who will also produce the project.
The Hollywood Reporter says the new film will be titled A Christmas Story Christmas, and will be intended for HBO Max. The film will be directed by Clay Kaytis, who directed The Christmas Chronicles for Netflix.
While the first movie took place in the 1940s, the new story will take place in the 1970s and sees an adult Ralphie return to his house on Cleveland Street to deliver his kids a magical Christmas like the one he had growing up.
As an adult, Peter Billingsley has focused on a behind-the-camera career. He was a producer on the Broadway musical adaptation of Christmas Story, which received three Tony nominations, as well as on Jon Favreau’s culinary-themed talk show Dinner for Five.
Production begins in February in Hungary.
