Britney Spears Reveals The Real Reason She Hasn’t Released New Music
Britney Spears set the record straight on whether or not she is ready to make her comeback in music after being freed from her conservatorship.
After reports surfaced that the 40-year-old pop star was getting back into the studio, she took to Instagram yesterday (December 27) to set the record straight.
According to Britney, she had asked for “13 years to perform new songs and remixes of my old songs” but was allegedly unable to do so while she was under the conservatorship. She continued to say, “It was a set up to make me fail.”
In addressing why she doesn’t do music anymore, Spears said, “People have no idea the awful things that were done to me personally…and after what I’ve been through, I’m scared of people and the business!!!! They really hurt me!!!!!! Not doing my music anymore is my way of saying ‘F–k You’ in a sense when it only actually benefits my family by ignoring my real work… It’s like I’ve subconsciously let them win…”
In October, Britney said she was reluctant to return to the music industry, writing on Instagram that she was “staying clear of the business which is all I’ve ever known my whole life … which is why this is so very confusing for me!!!”
Even though Britney isn’t rushing to put out new songs, that doesn’t mean she isn’t working on future projects — she revealed that she plans on getting out of her comfort zone. “My goal for this year is to push myself a bit more and do things that scare me but not too much,” she shared. “I do know what makes me happy and brings me joy and I try to meditate on those places and thoughts that enable me to experience it!!!!!”
Shortly after posting her candid message, Britney shared a two-minute video that captured a rarely shared heartwarming hang out with her two boys, Sean Preston Federline, 16, and Jayden James Federline, 15, who she shares with ex Kevin Federline. Britney’s fiancé Sam Asghari also joined in on the fun.
