Public Asked to Help ‘Rebuild the Boardwalks’ In Somerset County
BASKING RIDGE, NJ – The Somerset County Park Foundation and the Somerset County Park Commission’s Environmental Science Department have received donations totaling $7,875 for the “Rebuild the Boardwalks” crowdfunding campaign. The goal is to raise a total of $10,000 by Dec. 31, 2021, for boardwalk maintenance needed at the Environmental Education Center located within Lord Stirling Park.
“This is the season to give, and by donating you will be investing in your community, promoting public health, and giving a tax-free donation,” said Somerset County Park Commission Secretary-Director Geoffrey Soriano. “Meeting our goal of $10,000 is extremely important. After the wear and tear of recent storms, these repairs are desperately needed so the public has safe access to our nature trails.”
The funds will be used to repair and replace sections of four miles of boardwalk trails damaged by natural causes and wear and tear caused by pedestrians. Boardwalk repairs and replacement at the Environmental Education Center will begin in 2022.
