U.S. to Open Canadian, Mexican Land Borders to Fully Vaccinated Travelers

The United States has announced it will open the Canadian and Mexican land borders to nonessential travelers who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 starting next month. The move follows a 19-month travel ban.

International travelers who show proof that they are fully vaccinated will be allowed to travel into the U.S. regardless of the reason. It's the first time travelers will be able to enter the U.S. via land since March 2020.

Throughout the pandemic, essential workers were allowed to cross the land borders between the U.S. and Canada. Canada started allowing fully vaccinated Americans to visit over the summer, but the U.S. had been holding out.

Officials say the land borders will open in early November.
