The Middletown PBA Local 124 is creating a memorial scholarship in honor of retired Deputy Chief Joseph Capriotti. Deputy Chief Capriotti began his career with the Middletown Twp. Capriotti carried out many different capacities during his career, but most memorable was the critical role he played in the Middletown Police Department’s response to the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Joe responded to Ground Zero in the days and weeks following the attack, and he also personally notified every single Middletown family who had lost a loved one that day, something that was of utmost importance to him. As a result of Joseph’s response to Ground Zero, he contracted cancer which he eventually succumbed to in June of 2019. It is with great honor that the PBA is creating a scholarship fund in his name.
