Olivia Rodrigo makes a brief statement to reporters at the beginning of the daily news conference in the Brady Press Briefing Room at the White House on July 14, 2021 in Washington, DC. Rodrigo is partnering with the White House to promote COVID-19 vaccination outreach to her young fans.

Olivia Rodrigo fans have been complaining about the merch they’ve received in the last few weeks on social media, with good reason — they look nothing like the pictures advertised!

Fans took to Twitter and TikTok to compare the Sour merch that was modeled on Olivia’s website by Olivia herself. Although the company responsible for selling the merch was Ceremony of Roses and not Rodrigo herself, the complaints are not a good look for the rising singer.

A spokesperson for Ceremony of Roses said they are working to make it right.

“We are committed to providing the highest quality goods and services to Olivia’s fans and are aware of issues with a few of the products,” the spokesperson told BuzzFeed News. “We are working to resolve these issues moving forward and in the meantime, granting refunds or exchanges to anyone affected.”

Those affected certainly made their qualms known. One person claimed on Twitter that a friend had received a beaded bracelet that was supposed to spell out “sour” but actually said “sur.”

Another person who similarly ordered bead-themed jewelry also received misspelled earrings that read: “sous.”

Another fan posted photos of what they said they thought would be a light lavender-colored long sleeve shirt, but received a darker shade of purple instead as well as what was clearly shown as a crop top but arrived as a long, almost dress-length top.

Another person took matters into their own hands with the purple shirt and made it better by treating it with bleach.

Delaney McCabe, a TikToker (@delaneymccabe) had a video go viral with over 800,000 plays going through what she thought was going to be “comfort colors” or a “faded” purple. She made it a point to not bash Olivia, but rather “whoever made this merch.” What she received instead was what she accurately described as a Michael’s arts and crafts store bright purple-colored shirt.

“I feel silly. I feel like I’ve been hoodwinked.”

Olivia Rodrigo has not commented on the disappointing Sour merch.
