Taraji P. Henson has been cast as orphanage villain, Miss Hannigan in the NBC’s version of, ANNIE LIVE!
The live production of the beloved Tony Award-winning hit musical will air Thursday, December 2 on NBC. Henson will follow in the footsteps of Carol Burnett (Annie 1982) and Cameron Diaz (Annie 2014).
“Carol Burnett, who brought Miss Hannigan to life in the classic 1982 movie, is someone I have studied and idolized as far back as I can remember. So when the opportunity came to me to join NBC and this incredible group of producers, I jumped! Carol, I hope to do you proud,” Henson shared in a statement released by NBC.
The nationwide search for the title role of Annie also kicks off today. Rehearsals are set for October and November 2021 in New York City.
