Airbnb Says Americans Want a Place With Cabins and Treehouses
With more Americans getting vaccinated, and also nursing a pandemic-delayed year-long case of spring fever, it’s likely this year’s travel season will be a busy one.
When it comes to getting away, travelers want to spend time outdoors.
Eighty-four percent of potential Airbnb guests are looking for remote spaces to stay, with cabins, barns and treehouse accommodations ranking at the top of wish lists.
In fact, the searches for lodging with treehouse views shot up 80% since March 2020, Airbnb reports. Places with patios and balconies jumped 35%, while searches for residences with barbecue space shot up 19%.
As for the most popular locations for staying someplace special, Airbnb search data ranked its top ten most desired locations. Not surprisingly, all offer copious amounts of open space and beautiful views:
1. Southern Maine
2. Cape May, NJ
3. Round Top, TX
4. Lake Powell, AZ
5. Cape San Blas, FL
6. Orderville, UT
7. Mammoth Cave, KY
8. Kitty Hawk, NC
9. Lake of the Ozarks, MO
10. Whitefish, MT
