On this day in 1968 The Jimi Hendrix Experience went to number 1 on the US album chart with their third and final studio album ‘Electric Ladyland’.

In 1985, Starship started a two week run at number 1 on the US singles chart with ‘We Built This City’.
In 2006, Queen’s ‘Greatest Hits’ album was declared the Best Selling UK album of all time by The Official UK Charts Company
