Kelly Clarkson Says Her New Album Was ‘Therapeutic’ Amid Divorce
In a teaser for an upcoming interview with TODAY’s Willie Geist, Kelly Clarkson opens up about how her new album is helping her through her current divorce.
The singer states, “This next record, this will probably be the most personal one I’ve ever released. And the whole record is basically every emotion you experience from the beginning of a relationship to the end of what it is now or where it is now, and it’s been very therapeutic for me.”
She adds, “There’s one that my kids sing in the car. I’m going through mixes, and I’m just, like, ‘This is weird.’ Like, it’s your relationship. I’ve never written about my life to where my kids are, like, singing along. It is what it is.”
To recap, Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock in June after being married almost seven years. They have two children, River Rose, 6, and Remington, 4.
Kelly’s interview with Willie airs this weekend on Sunday TODAY.
