15 years ago today YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim uploaded a video of himself talking about elephants at the zoo; it was their first-ever video. As you may be aware, they’ve grown significantly since then. Here’s some more of their highlights through the years…

2006: Acquired by Google for 1.7 billion

2007: First viral video: “Charlie Bit My Finger.” (below)

2008: First video to get 100 million views: “Evolution of Dance.” (below)

2012: One Billion views: Psy‘s “Gangnam Style.”

2014: First female CEO: Susan Wojcicki

2019: 500 hours of video is uploaded; that number is expected to grow significantly in 2020
