NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Andrew Morgan returned to Earth Friday (April 17), along with Soyuz Commander Oleg Skripochka of the Russian space agency Roscosmos from a seven-month stay in space.
The astronauts quickly found out that the world is now very different from when they had left. While they were able to follow news reports about the global coronavirus pandemic back on Earth, they say it was “hard to understand” the full picture of what was going on.
During their first spaceflight, Morgan and Meir contributed to hundreds of experiments in biology, Earth science, human research, physical sciences and technology development.
Morgan, a former Army physician, says he even felt guilty that he was up in space instead of helping out at home.
