Read Across America Day, aka Dr. Seuss Day, is March 2nd, Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Read Across America continues through the week to encourage children to read more books and get excited about reading.

It began in 1997 and is observed annually when adults visit schools and other locations to read to children, usually one of Dr. Seuss’ 60+ books. Hospitals, bookstores, community centers, churches, libraries and schools host events throughout the week.

Theodor Seuss Geisel was also an artist, publisher, animator, poet, and political cartoonist. Dr. Seuss passed away in 1991, but lives on through his work.

Look for Magic 98.3’s Joel Katz this week as he visits schools throughout Central Jersey. To request a visit, email!
