Even though we’re radio personalities and interact with celebrities, sometimes there is that one celebrity that you finally get to meet and you think to yourself, “Damn! Did I seriously just meet my favorite artist?” I had that moment on November 2nd, 2016 when I got to meet Machine Gun Kelly.
I started listening to MGK back in 2012 when he first released Wild Boy feat. Waka Flaka Flame. I don’t know what it was about his artist style, but I just gravitated to his music and never looked back. I followed him through his projects such as 100 words and running, Lace Up, Black Flag, Half Naked & Almost Famous, F**K It, General Admission, Bloom, Hotel Diablo and even though his future album Tickets to My Downfall hasn’t dropped yet, I’m totally here for it!
November 2nd was an awesome day because that was the day I got to meet Colson “Machine Gun Kelly” Baker. He had recently dropped his hit with Camila Cabello titled “Bad Things” and the song had blew up at the time. Top 40 radio was officially introduced to MGK and I was about to share his music with the world during my show. It’s safe to say that song BLEW UP and it was only right MGK & Camila Cabello came to the station to promote their smash hit.
Apparently my boss told the record label I was a die hard fan, so when Machine Gun Kelly walked in he came up to me and thanked me for all the support and asked me if I would take a picture. I thought this was the coolest thing in the world, until he said he was hooking me up with VIP passes to his show that night! Yeah, My wife and I literally stood next to Camila Cabello for 2 hours watching MGK absolutely kill it on stage.
COOLEST DAY EVER!
