Michael Strahan‘s jersey number will officially be retired by the New York Giants franchise. The former NFL player and talk show host revealed the big news during his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Monday night (January 27).

The Giants drafted Strahan in the 1993 NFL draft as a second round pick. Although the team has yet to make the official announcement, the No. 92 has not been worn by a player since he retired in 2007.

The legendary defensive end is a member of the Giants’ Ring of Honor, was named to the Pro Bowl roster seven times, retired with an impressive 141. 5 career sacks, among many other accomplishments.

Strahan’s announcement follows the retirement of Giants quarterback Eli Manning. The 48-year-old attended the press conference for his longtime friend and former teammate, No. 10, held at the Giants’ field house on January 24.

“Congratulations on an incredible career,” Strahan shared to Instagram. “Always a great teammate and friend. Now we can Golf!”
