Selena Gomez’s new album, Rare, is finally here and with it comes the inevitable question of what songs are about her ex Justin Bieber. Twitter thinks Gomez’s “Cut You Off” is about Bieber and might be the final song she’ll write about him. And they’ve got the receipts to prove it.

On the slinky track, Gomez sings about a no-good ex that she has to cut out of her life for good. “Gotta chop chop all the extra weight / I’ve been carrying for 1460 days,” she sings. “Gotta, gotta, gotta clean my slate.”

That number, as one fan points out, is mathematically important to Gomez and Bieber’s relationship. “jelena = lasted 4 years,” the fan tweeted. “1460 days = 4 years.”

But, the song’s co-writer Liz Owen, claims the song is more about her own experience with an “a**hole boy who shall not be named” than Gomez’s. When fans started calling Gomez out for going after Bieber, Owen thanked a fan for sticking up for her.

“This writer wrote about her life and it got pitched and sold to Selena. You on here and on Twitter lying and hating on Selena,” a fan commented. “And you never once had an issue with Justin writing albums about her.”

While it’s unclear who “Cut You Off” is about, Gomez admitted that this album looks back at her past relationships. In an interview with the Zach Sang Show, Gomez said she wanted Bieber to hear her new music, which included the breakup anthem “Love You To Love Me.”

“Yeah, I do [want him to listen],” she told the radio show in October. “And here’s the whole point: being able to say something on your own, and being able to say something that actually is beautiful.”
