Back to school is upon us! Check out this post from the archives to keep up your exercise progress through the fall.

Depending on who you are, going back to school is a time to celebrate or a mourning of summer. Regardless of which camp you fall into, it does mean one thing: the start of a new year. It may not be the new calendar year, but why wait until two meals of overeating to act on a New Year’s resolution? Here are a few tips for getting the most out of fall for your workout routine, courtesy of WebMD:

  • Go to the beach. The shoulder season (right before and after the peak summer season) is still warm enough for a sweatshirt and a game of beach volleyball, or running and biking with some of the best views around
  • Rent a canoe or kayak. Places like the D&R canal, which runs right through many of the towns in our area, have boat rental services at lots along the route. Grab a boat (and a friend, while you’re at it) and take in the foliage in a way you don’t get every day
  • Sitting at soccer practice doesn’t mean skipping exercise. If you have kids and find yourself too stretched for time due to all of their commitments, think about how you can get a jog in around the soccer field or do a step workout on the bleachers while jamming out with your headphones

Either way, going back to school can also be a time for renewal!
