Stop Wasting Money, Store Garden Food Properly

• According to Better Homes and Gardens, you're throwing money away each time you go shopping by improperly storing these produce items after you get home.
• Tomatoes belong out on the countertop. Cold storage will actually change their texture and cause them to lose flavor. Same goes for avocados, which won't ripen in the refrigerator.
• Citrus fruits do better in the cold, as will certain kinds of squashes. Most mushrooms should definitely be kept in a brown bag inside the fridge otherwise they'll go bad quickly.
• Free up some room in your crisper drawers by keeping onions, potatoes, and bananas outside the icebox as well.
