The last couples of days left us skating across the driveway and sidewalks. Ice has always been a challenge. Most of us don't have bags of salt on hand. Here are a couple of quick de-icing tips using products you probably have in your pantry.
- Try making your own de-icing solution by mixing 1 teaspoon of dish detergent, 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol, 1/2 gallon of hot water. After you mix it well, pour the solution on your driveway or sidewalk.
- Cover the driveway or sidewalk with sand on top of the ice for traction.
- Spread ashes from your fireplace, sugar, or beet juice as other alternatives to salt.
