The holidays are a unique time of the year. Between Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Years & every other holiday under the sun, it seems like there is so much going on, yet everything in the world just seems to stop. The kids are out of school & the parents are taking some much needed time off from work, so it’s like every child and adults daily routine dream, to do what they want, when they want to do it since they have all the time in the world. But once the New Year hits, it’s back to reality all over again and we tend to ask ourselves, how in the world am I suppose to want to go back to my normal schedule. Well honestly, I feel it’s as simple as four words….
Forget “New Year Resolutions!”
Yeah you read that right, forget your new years resolution. Lets work on a “Forever Resolution.” If you want to quit smoking, eat better, hit the gym more, get that dream job, start up that company or whatever it might be, take the time to realize this shouldn’t be a thing you work on for 2019, it should be something you set your mind to for the rest of your life. Now this might seem cheesy to some but lets be honest, most of us will have a hiccup while trying to achieve a new goal for the new year, and when we do we might say to ourselves, “Well I already failed on my new years resolution, I’ll try again next year.”
Messing up is OK, we are human and no one on planet earth is perfect. Take your failures and learn from them, because failing is the key to success. Bill Gates didn’t become filthy rich by never messing up, Tom Brady has thrown interceptions, Babe Ruth has stuck out at the plate, but what they took from those events was knowledge on how to make themselves better the next time around.
So if you want to know how to handle the post holiday blues, simply set your goals TODAY and work harder then everyone else on this earth to accomplish them because if you don’t have a goal you want to reach, what is your purpose everyday when you wake up?
