Every year I report on fitness trends in these posts, but there are certain trends that are truly going to change how fitness works for years and decades to come. Here are three of them from NBC:
- Streaming workouts. Some of them, like those that come with treadmills and bikes, are even interactive and streamed live to make them as close to an in-person class as possible. You can imagine how virtual reality will take this a step further in the not-too-distant future.
- Wearable technology. We're already at the point where smart watches can do electrocardiograms right on your wrist to determine if your heart is functioning properly.
- Meditation. This is sort of a trick answer, as it isn't new - quite the opposite, in fact. However, meditation is becoming more mainstream and popular than ever in fitness. In our fast-paced world, it's something that can help ground us, and can be done anywhere - including on the treadmill.
Who knows - maybe you'll be doing a virtual reality workout next to Shawn Mendes in a few years!
