Thanksgiving is my second favorite holiday. It comes in close behind Christmas. I love the family getting together to catch up on each other’s busy lives. I love seeing how much my nieces and nephews have grown since we have seen each other last.  I especially love the food! One of the side dishes I look forward to is the cranberry sauce.  Cranberry sauce is a must on our Thanksgiving table.  You can buy the canned stuff but nothing beats the flavor a homemade  sauce.   I like to add a little orange zest and a pinch of cinnamon to the pot. These 2 ingredients enhance the flavor a lot!

Ingredients:

1 bag of cranberries

1/2 cup of water

1/2 cup of orange juice

1 cup of sugar

grated orange peel

pinch of cinnamon

Open the bag of fresh cranberries and wash them. Place them in a small pot.  Add all ingredients to the pot and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until cranberries burst. Place in a bowl and chill in the refrigerator.

That’s it, you’re done! I like to bring this dish wherever I am invited for Thanksgiving. It’s easy and people will think you spent all day in the kitchen! Enjoy and be safe-  Maryann Morgan
