Jane Fonda Confirms A ‘9 To 5’ Sequel Is In The Works
Do you remember the movie with Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin, and Jane Fonda?
Fonda came forward to let everyone know that a sequel to ‘9 To 5’ is in the works, and she is an executive producer on it. But she also said the words we’re all dying to know, quoted by E!:
“Right now, Dolly, Lily and I are all intending to be in it.”
Rashida Jones will be working on the script with the original writer Patricia Resnick, and Fonda also noted that th4e film will be set at Consolidated Companies, like the original film.
Considering that the plot for the movie was taking down the biggest “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot” boss on the planet, Fonda noted that she feels sexual harassment is worse for women these days, because a lot of the workforce is hired by outside companies, or with social media, you can be spied on easily.
Back in March, E! quotes Dolly Parton from a ‘Nightline’ interview, saying that “All these years we’ve talked about doing a sequel to 9 to 5 and it never made any real sense until just recently.”
With everything happening in the world, including things like Harvey Weinstein, and the #MeToo Movement, I think it’s safe to say the movie will be contending with its own record for one of the highest grossing comedies – but will add a lot more tongue-in-cheek humor that is both telling and teaching others about the real frustrations about harassment in the workplace.
