The 90th Academy Awards ceremony will honor the best films of 2017 on Sunday. Some we will agree deserve the win, while some we will wonder why they were even nominated!
My favorite movies are always the ones that bring out the most emotions. The emotional range can be anything from non stop laughter to going through a box of tissues. I also like a little life lesson thrown in there somewhere.
The 80’s was a decade of film brilliance and just plain fun. One of my go-to movies when I want a big laugh is The Great Outdoors. The film is not only about a family vacation, but who is the better man. Dan Akroyd and John Candy are hilarious together . My favorite scene is with the bear, who is now known as “The Bald Headed Bear” of Clare County.
The Judge came out in 2014. I never understood why the script received mixed reviews. The Judge explores the complicated relationship between a father and a son. It shows how every family can make peace with the past and forgive each other. Robert Downey Jr and Robert Duvall did the best dramatic performances. Grab your tissue box and get ready for an amazing scene from the film.
The Lion King may seem like a kid’s movie, but the message in The Circle of Life can’t compare to any film out there. My husband and I used this quote to explain life to my son when he was growing up.
|Mufasa: Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures, from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope.
Simba: But, Dad, don’t we eat the antelope?
Mufasa: Yes, Simba, but let me explain. When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. And so we are all connected in the great Circle of Life.
