The very thought of push-ups probably gives you flashbacks to high school gym class physical fitness tests, but they remain one of the best exercises you can do that won’t require a trip to the gym or the purchase of home workout equipment. Here are some tips to get the most out of this workout staple, courtesy of Shape:
- Start on the ground. Seeing how well you can lift yourself up will more clearly tell you what you need to change about your form, or whether you need to do modified push-ups
- Your back should be like a table. Your hips, glutes and back should all be aligned – no sagging
- Don’t drop your head as you go down. Keep your eyes trained on a spot on the floor through the entire motion
