Happy Birthday Dave!!!

Dave Grohl, and his band, the Foo Fighters mean the world to me.

Ask any of my friends or co-workers, and they'll tell you about my "Cardboard Dave" and my wine glass with his picture, or my many trips to LA to see him and the band.

So, with it being Dave's birthday and all, someone asked me WHY he, and this band are so special to me.

It goes back to 2011. My dad passed away, and his death hit me hard in a lot of ways. Around the same time, The Foo Fighters released Wasting Light with the song, "Walk." The lyrics in that song made me realize that while losing him was one of the worst things I ever had to deal with, I also had to "relearn" how to keep everything in my life moving forward and stay focused on being positive.

Since then, this song became my "mantra" to any challenge life has thrown my way, and whenever I feel like I don't have the answer, I sit in my car, or go for a run, and blast this song in my ears to remind myself it CAN be done.

It might sound silly, or very simplistic, but that's why Dave and his band are special to me, and I'll always be a fan.

So, Dave, Happy Birthday, and if I ever have the opportunity to meet you, I'll thank you in person for the music, and this song!

"Learning to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?
Learning to talk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?"
