In honor of the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show — which took place on February 9, 1964 — the Charitybuzz website has launched a Beatlemania Charity Auction.
Among the lots up for bid is the opportunity for one fan and a guest to meet Macca at one of his shows sometime in 2014. The package, which is valued at $50,000 and will benefit the MusiCares Foundation, may be the highlight of the auction, but it’s hardly the only stellar item available. Also on the block are a lithograph, “Bed In for Peace,” drawn and signed by John Lennon and depicting the late Beatle and Yoko Ono’s famous March 1969 bed-in press conference in Amsterdam. That’s valued at $25,000 and benefits the Kenya Education fund.
Additional items include a framed, painted drum head signed by Ringo Starr and an electric guitar autographed by McCartney.
The auction runs until the end of February at Charitybuzz.com/theme/Beatles.
